I keep thinking it's Monday.

(My first exposure to New Yorker-style humor was a single-panel cartoon of two hippos in a river, one of whom is saying to the other, "I keep thinking it's Tuesday." I didn't get it at the time, and even after it was explained to me I didn't think it was particularly funny. I still don't, even though I enjoy humor in a similar vein. Go figure.)
I actually got a reasonable amount of sleep last night, although I do need to turn the volume up on my radio-alarm; the first time it went off was during one of the talk segments, so I took a minute or two to realize that I was supposed to be getting up. (Actually, I set my alarm for 4:21 when I need to get up at 4:30, so I can hit the snooze button once. It works amazingly well - I hit snooze once, I doze off for nine minutes, and when the alarm goes off a second time, I'm actually awake and alert.)
I see that the inimitable Moe Lane has left Obsidian Wings. I can't say I blame him; in fact, I was going to suggest to him today that he had a perfectly valid reason for abstaining from posting until Sunday at least, and if he was going to abstain until Sunday he might as well keep going until after the election, but I respect his decision to drop it outright as well. It does mean that I won't be reading the comments as often or as thoroughly, though; even after a year of reading ObWi and knowing that there are, at my count, five other authors there, I still tend to think of it as "Moe's weblog".
On the other hand, I admit to some very selfish cheer on hearing about this, since it means that maybe Moe will start posting to the INML again. (Also, I really do want to know what he has in mind with respect to (that's what "WRT" means, by the way, for those of you who don't know) Poughkeepsie.)
Aleae Iaciens is proceeding about as I expected. (Again, for those of you following along at home, there's a feed at
aleae_iaciens, if you're interested.) I really ought to sit down this week and think about the system and setting, but there's so much else I ought to do this week (including NaNoWriMo and tweaking a website design) that I may not get to it. At the very least, though, I want to get some information about the social structure of the setting down, and I'd like to draw at least a basic map of the world by the end of the month.
Also, it would be nice to have a name for the game; I've been calling it Frontier, but I have a feeling that won't stick.

Date: 2004-10-26 07:33 am (UTC)I think it's a shame Moe felt he had to leave, but I certainly understand it. I've had next to no time for writing myself, and I was planning on baseball-blogging like a bastard this summer there. If it was something that I was actively disliking... yeah, it'd make me clear time in my busy schedule, yep, you betcha.

Date: 2004-10-26 10:56 am (UTC)And, agreed. (Which is one of the reasons, actually, that I'm leaving my job - I don't actively dislike it now, but I expect to before too much longer, and I want to get out before that happens.) It's kind of sad, because I can remember when Moe loved ObWi like nobody's business, but these things happen.
I do have to say that I was looking forward to your baseball blogging this year, but all in all I'd say that you had more than enough reasons to be too busy for it. :)
