T-Mobile joins the revolution
Apr. 11th, 2004 09:54 pmI've been watching baseball a bunch lately, and although I usually mute the commercials, occasionally I leave the volume on, whether by accident or to see what they are. (For the record, I mute the Coca-Cola "Roommates" ad every fucking time. Why on Earth Coke wants to associate itself with total jackasses is beyond me.) One of the ads that's come on once or twice is the T-Mobile "Couples call free" ad.
For some reason, this popped into my head - I'm not sure why - and playing it through in my mind, I realized something - there's what appears to be an older homosexual couple in one of the spots. Two guys in their 60s, one complaining at the other just like all of the other "traditional" couples. There's really no other rational way to interpret it.
That's pretty cool. Thumbs up, T-Mobile.
(Right after I posted this, I thought of Felix and Oscar, the Odd Couple. It just doesn't work, though; they're not onscreen long enough to register as anything other than an older male couple.)
