Dreams.

I woke up about fifteen minutes ago from a dream about finding a new job. All of the places to which I'd applied had instituted a new hiring procedure: you had to spend some actual time on the job to prove that you could do it before they'd hire you. So the dream involved me trying out various jobs, each of which was tedious ("take a bottle, filled with strange and not necessarily natural substances, out of a cardboard box, figure out which pre-existing arcane label in the database describes the bottle, enter that label into another database, repeat" was a typical example), and none of which was willing to offer me more than $15k. I remember talking to seven or eight supervisors: "It doesn't matter that you're making $30k at your old job, this job is better!" Finally, I went back to my old job - which had turned into data entry, which I hadn't been doing fast enough and for which I was going to get in trouble, because my supervisor was coming back from her vacation and I was working in a remote corner of her cavernous office where she could watch me.

And she walked in the door and asked how the entry was coming, and I woke up.

I really should have gone out of town for my vacation.

...having cleaned the kitchen. And I mean really cleaned; about the only thing I haven't done is cleared out the refrigerator, and that's because Dave did that a few weeks ago and nothing that's in there now has spoiled.

Well, okay, I lie: although I cleaned out the microwave, I forgot to clean off the shelf in front of the microwave. But I can't get in there until the floor dries (see? I mopped! With bleach, even) so I'm in here posting to LJ instead and wishing I had someone to talk to. I should be being even more virtuous by cleaning one of the three other rooms in the house that absolutely has to be cleaned by tomorrow night, but at the moment I've just spent a little over two hours cleaning (the CD that I'm playing runs 62 minutes, and it's played twice) and I want a break.

(Actually, there are four: dining room, family room, foyer, and study. But the study is My Space Dammit, and doesn't need to be cleaned unless I really want to, and although it's getting kind of grimy I have other priorities. Of the other three, the foyer just needs some stuff carted off to other rooms (my suitcase and Dave's duffel bag, for instance); the dining room needs cleaning mostly by dint of my using the table as the mail-sorting area, which means that I really just need to get the mail out of there and sweep the floor; and the family room is mostly Dave's mess, but since he's not going to be here again until Wednesday, I'll clean it up for him. All in all, it's probably another two hours' work at the most.)

So. That's pretty much my day so far.
