Lights

There are days when I wish Jose got here earlier.

I don't mind working in the dark - when I'm awake, and feel okay. But when I'm still a little asleep and not feeling well to begin with... well, I tend to nod off occasionally if I'm working in the dark.

The thing is, our office has a motion detector that determines whether or not the light should be on based on whether there's movement in the room. Unfortunately, it's pointed at Jose's half. So when he's not here, my light comes from the window -

- which is also in Jose's half.

It gets dark in here when Jose's not around.

On a more upbeat note, http://www.kleimo.com/random/name.cfm! :D

I recall, from my days of youth in middle school (what some of you traditionalists might call Junior High), fundraisers that always seemed to pop up around this time of year. We were sent home (usually from music classes, as I recall; I played saxophone in the band, although by rights I probably should have taken choir) with catalogs full of random foodstuffs - such as, to pick a random example, cheese logs or chocolate turtles - and other interesting things to buy, like steel toast racks.

I miss those fundraisers. Not only did they bring a sense that autumn (my favorite season, containing Thanksgiving and Halloween) was here, and that winter (my second favorite, and containing Christmas) was hot on its heels (so to speak), but I also liked looking through the catalogs and picking out the things I would have bought if I'd had any money.

Well, now I do have money.

I wonder if Hereford still does those fundraisers.

On a related note, I recall that NPR put out a catalog entitled Signals, and that there was a "sister" catalog - or at least one which I associate strongly with Signals - whose name I cannot remember. Are these still being published? If so, where can I find information on them? My l337 search engine skillz are returning no definitive hits.
