Ugh.
I've been up since about 2:45 AM - woke up after a very odd dream;
fadethecat was getting married, and my family had come to get me at the office (which was located in a shopping mall, for some reason) so that we could attend said wedding. I was very upset that
fade was going to be upset with me, because my tuxedo hadn't come in yet so I was going to be forced to attend in a suit and tie. At about the time we left the building, Moe Lane [warning: politics!] showed up with an infant; it wasn't his, and wasn't
fade's, but rather the child of yet another set of friends (who don't actually exist outside of the dream). At that point I split off to head home and get a better suit and tie, all the while wondering who exactly it was that
fade was going to marry; I got on a crowded upward-bound escalator to street level that at awkward intervals turned abruptly into a downward slide, and after three or so repetitions of "go up for three seconds, fall for one second"... I woke up to find that I still had two and a quarter hours before I was supposed to get up. So I did what any sane addict would do: I went downstairs and checked my email.
Normally, when I wake up in the middle of the night, I'm too muzzy to do anything except roll over and go back to sleep. This time, I snapped to full alertness immediately on opening my eyes, and never really found the lethargy to go back to sleep. So instead I've been re-watching Babylon 5's first season (episodes 5-6, if you're curious), hoping that I'd get the chance to go back to sleep.
No such luck.
In any event, my alarm would have gone off about five minutes ago, so it's time to get up and do things. I'm not going in to the office today - my road still isn't plowed, and I'm not sure I want to brave an unplowed road while it's still dark out - but I probably won't be online much either; I've hit on the tactic of using my (Mac) laptop to check email and such while I use my Windows PC (which runs the software I need to work) to actually do my job, and I don't find using Rapscallion particularly enjoyable, so I'm probably not going to actually talk to anybody until 2 or 3 in the afternoon.
