As usual, standard rules apply.

[livejournal.com profile] harukami asks:
1. Why that TMBG song?

It dates back to 1996 and alt.games.vampire.tremere on Usenet. Someone - I don't remember who - started referring to me as "Exquisite Dead Guy" for some reason or another (probably my proper use of grammar and determined attempts to be polite), and it stuck. I shortened to "EDG" because it was easier to type and more iconic.

2. What was your first gaming system? First to like?

Dungeons & Dragons, at the tender age of 4. I stuck with D&D for years until I was introduced to Vampire: the Masquerade (the second edition had just come out) in middle or high school, and branched out from there. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for D&D, though. (In fact, somewhere around here I still have a first-printing Rules Cyclopedia...)

3. Most irritating kind of RPers, in your opinion? Why?

Rules lawyers, probably. At least, rules lawyers of the traditional kind. I myself am a non-traditional rules lawyer; I'm happy to accept that the GM is using different rules than are specified by the book, but I do tend to argue rules that don't make sense to me. (Once they're explained or resolved, though,, I'll shut up - and I do try my best to keep the arguments to non-gametime.) I tend to find the "this is what the book says, so this is the way it has to be" type more annoying than almost anyone else.

A close second is the Attention Hog. (I'm sure you've seen the type - the player who is happy to interrupt other people in order to tell the GM what his character is doing, but gets upset to the point of walking out if anyone interrupts his five-minute string of actions.)

4. In the last 12 months, I'm sure you've seen a lot of movies. Which one's your favourite and why?

The Shawshank Redemption is my favorite movie ever, for reasons I can't fully quantify - everything just pulls together exactly right. (Plus it's a con film, so it already has that going for it.)

The irony, though, is that I haven't seen it in the last year. Of the movies I have seen in the last year, my favorite is probably either My Neighbor Totoro or Spirited Away, and again I can't really quantify why; the direction and animation in both is superb, as are the scores (I think Spirited Away has the better score, but My Neighbor Totoro's gets stuck in my head more often), and the stories are just wonderful.

5. You win a prize: For a single day, you have an unlimited amount of money to use however you wish. What do you do with it?

Tease.

In no particular order:

  • Buy a Victorian house, on an immense plot of land, in New England.
  • Buy a top-of-the-line computer.
  • Buy out Warehouse 23's stock of In Nomine/i> books (later to be given to libraries and less-fortunate gamers).
  • Buy a Chevrolet Suburban and a pre-paid gas card. ^_^
  • Make a large donation to the Make A Wish Foundation.
  • Dump enough into a bank account to retain myself for life. ^_-

Other than that... Hm.

[livejournal.com profile] solaas asks:
1) Do you play any instruments?

Yes. Piano, guitar, and saxophone, at varying levels of competency. And I sing.

2) Where/how do you see Alex in 20 years?

Hopefully, having just entered a master's-degree program. ^_- If he keeps going the way he is now (and I realize that 20 years is a lot of time, and that I shouldn't judge his future by what he does when he's three, but he shows all the signs, dammit), he'll be a mechanical engineer.

3) Where did all the flowers go?

Long time passing. -_-;;

4) Do you have a single favourite RPG character among those you've played?

I do; unfortunately, it's not really a character I can talk about... ^_^;;; Other than that, probably Isao (in [livejournal.com profile] fadethecat's online GURPS game) or Aphax (in [livejournal.com profile] telerib's offline GURPS game). I haven't really been satisfied with most of my characters lately, and looking back over my history, I'm not really satisfied with most of them, either...

5) What is your take on/opinion of religion as a whole?

I believe my thing, they believe theirs. Until we all die and see what it's really about, or until something gives us concrete, verifiable evidence one way or the other, we won't know who's right. So as long as X religion doesn't bother me, I don't bother it.

As a whole... It's hard to say. I don't really think it's fair to lump everything together; my immediate reaction was to say "religion is a lot of trappings on what is at its core a very simple belief system", and then realized that I was automatically referring to the Catholic church, for instance. Not all religions are like that, and I can't really respond to religion as a whole. -_-
