One of the things I actively like about my car is the fact that there are two ways to lock the car: if you have the key in your hand, or if you're inside the car.
Locking the car using the power lock lasts as long as the door doesn't change state between open and closed. If you power-lock the door while it's open and close it, it unlocks; if you power-lock the door while it's closed and open it, it unlocks.
You might, might be able to lock the keys in if you power-locked it while the driver's door was closed but one of the other doors was open, tossed the keys in, and then closed that door. I've never tried it, though...
