Insecurity

I'm doing well in my job. I know this because I make it a point to ask my supervisor, every two months or so, how I'm doing and whether I need to make any improvement. At the beginning of this month, she told me that I was doing fine and didn't need to improve anything, just like she has for the last three meetings.
So why is it that I have a strange recurring dream where I meet someone coming out of the elevator...
HIM (it's always a man about my age, although it's always different men): Hi, I'm looking for [SUPERVISOR'S NAME]'s office?
ME: Oh, I can show you the way. It's this way.
We walk.
ME: So, out of curiosity, what are you meeting with [SUPERVISOR] about?
HIM: Oh, I'm applying for the data analyst position she's advertising.
ME: ...oh.
It always ends there; we never get to the office. Either I wake up or the dream segues somewhere else, and I'm left with the sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that comes from things like finding out that your supervisor has started interviewing your replacement without telling you that you're being replaced.
