Self-loathing is not easily curable. It also festers if it's allowed to stagnate, which is why I post about it here.

However, it's also not something that people generally want to read about. I know this is true; there's no need to say "oh, I don't mind" or "oh, it's your journal". It makes people uncomfortable because they don't know how to fix it, or how to help, or even, a lot of the time, how to respond.

So here's the deal.

I will be making a "Depression" filter. Anyone may opt into this filter by commenting here. All posts in the Depression filter, provided that I remember to do so, will have screened comments (as will this post), so that you can respond freely.

Do not feel obliged for any reason to opt in. I will not be upset if you don't. Likewise, if you do opt in, do not feel obliged for any reason to comment on the entries you see.

Keep in mind that I will, from time to time, be baring my soul behind this filter. For that reason, I reserve the right to remove anyone.

Other than that, this will be my last public depression-themed post for the foreseeable future.

Questions from [livejournal.com profile] fadethecat. Leave a comment, and I'll ask you questions too!

1) How much wood could a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood and had a chainsaw and trebuchet available?

200ft3 per hour. He can triple this with a well-trained 4-chuck crew.

2) If any of your characters could meet any of mine... who would you like to see meet, and what do you think would happen?

I would like to see Strange meet Cory Whitely. And I really have no idea what would happen, but I think it'd be funny to watch his reaction to her.

3) Best music for a poingy mood?

Hm. Probably T.M. Revolution.

4) What author should I be reading who I'm not yet?

Well, I don't know who you're reading, so I'll toss out China Miéville and see if he sticks.

5) In the end, there can be only one: parrots or monkeys?

Monkeys. Parrots have flight, but nothing can stop the monkeys' steam-powered bananabots.

due to my being a total goddamn slacker, I'm looking at an all-nighter tonight.

At least I have my line of iambic pentameter ([personal profile] phos, did Mary tell you about that assignment? We're to show up with a line of perfect iambic pentameter): "In darkest Timbuktu the cobra waits". (I'm not sure if "waits" counts as being accented, but it's better than "lurks", which is what I had first.)
