By the side of the road
Aug. 4th, 2005 01:12 pmYesterday morning, across the street from my office, I saw an older black man waiting for the bank to open. He was dressed in a bright red suit and tie with a black shirt, red shoes, and a red fedora with a black band. He made strange, dramatic gestures at some of the people who went by.
This morning, on the on-ramp to the freeway, I saw a fawn, complete with characteristic white spots in its fur. It was lying very still, and blood was pooling around it. On the other side of the freeway, waiting for a break in traffic, was what I presumed to be an Animal Control officer. He had a rifle.
