The universe mocking you: living halfway up a hill, the top half of which has been cleared as a field - so there are no trees to block the horizon - and having the top of that hill be someone else's property.
I think sometime this week I'm going to go talk to the owner and see if I can get permission to lug my telescope up there now and then. If memory serves, I should be able to get about 90% of the sky from there, with almost no light pollution at all...
