Strange quirk

edgThrough a quirk of the bank system, I actually have more than a couple dollars to last me until Monday. Thank you, Johns Hopkins Federal Credit Union!
(Here's how it works: I get paid on the 15th and the last day of the month. If a payday falls on a non-work day - a holiday or weekend - then the paycheck is distributed on the first work day prior to the target date. So if the 15th were a Sunday, I'd get paid on Friday; if the last day of the month was a Wednesday, but fell on a holiday, I'd get paid on Tuesday. However, with direct deposit, the funds are actually deposited at the midnight connecting payday with the previous business day. That's the quirk that I hadn't noticed before; I'd thought it was just the previous day. So instead of depositing my check at the midnight between Monday and Sunday, they deposited it at the midnight between Monday and Friday - or, last night.)
Might still be ramen all weekend, but at least now I have a buffer.
