Using a new technique that will be used to search for Earthlike planets, astronomers have found a distant extrasolar planet, a bizarre place of torrid heat, with clouds and raindrops made of iron.

Though I wonder about the artist's impression. I'm sure the planet should be glowing red-hot and look very strange indeed, not exactly like any other boring old gas giant...

Not only that, what's with the obscenely bright body in the background? Another planet? (It's glowing like hell if it is.) Nova?

I suspect it's supposed to be another star, though I don't think this was a binary system.

Of course, a picture's never going to do the scene justice really. If you were there, your eyes would probably be rather instantly burnt out by the stupendously close and bright light source :).
