Taking advantage of the "business center" in the hotel to update
Here we are in scenic Waterford, WI. Tomorrow is my grandfather's service. (For those who don't know, my grandfather died in late October after a long battle with progressively-worse illness, including Parkinson's and repeated heart attacks. He was cremated, and we're scattering his ashes from the top of an old firewatch tower in a park much beloved by him, my grandmother, and their kids.) I've long since gotten used to not having him around (although I still, every now and again, feel the urge to call him and tell him something he'd find interesting - but then, I tend to catch piles of things out of the corner of my eye and think that it's our dog, Gundagai, who died almost a year ago); my apprehension of the event is mostly due to seeing family I haven't seen in years. I haven't been able to conquer my feelings of not being good enough, and this isn't helping any.
I think this will be my last update until Texas.
